About Me

A little more about me....

I am a Kilmarnock lass born n bred, where I still live with my husband Kevin, my gorgeous daughter Emma and a crazy border terrier pup, Aila. We married in 2008 and enjoyed it so much, we done it again in 2023, so you could say I enjoy a wedding or two! 

My passions are music, theatre, film, nature and my holidays and I can usually be found rehearsing a musical for local amateur companies or walking my mad pup! I love to laugh and banter (only the way the Scottish know how), being around the people I love, and enjoying life and all its adventures. 

A mental health nurse with NHS Ayrshire & Arran for over 20 years, working in dementia and mental health education, until the Covid pandemic and turning 40 gave me the courage to consider a different path. So, after some soul searching, research and many many chats over a cuppa with friends and family encouraging me to take the leap, here I am..... a legal celebrant! 

Why I became a celebrant? 

In my nursing job, it was paramount to build relationships and rapport, making sure people felt listened to and supported, while being adaptable and calm with great organisational, confident speaking and problem solving skills. I prided myself on these skills and worked hard over the years to perform them to the best I could. 

I also love getting to know people from all walks of life, chatting and hearing people's stories, while also telling stories, performing on the stage in amateur musicals and shows, entertaining and making people smile and laugh. Thus, when someone mentioned I would be a fantastic celebrant, using all my experience and skills, I was wow, i like the sound of this....now sign me up please!

So, after some fantastic industry ready training, education and support with Celebrants Scotland, I became a fully fledged celebrant, able to perform legal wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and other special celebrations all over Scotland. 

From the first chat to the big day itself,  I will be there with guidance and support,  bringing ideas, answering those questions and easing those nerves, not only being a celebrant, but a friend. 

I promise to bring my warmth, sincerity and humour to a ceremony, whether it be a relaxed affair, full on energy or something in between, always ensuring the most important thing, its about you. Telling your story the way it's deserved to be told.
